Looking Closer

The Moorish use of symmetries in the tiles of the Alhambra Palace in Granada, Spain, is an endless source of inspiration for any quilt artist interested in mathematical shape.  I am no mathematician but my design for Serenity sprung from one of these tile designs.  There was need to seriously simplify the interconnecting circular lines in order to be able to use a continuous stitch line on this small piece in my Sacred Places series.  If I had a lifetime available the body of work based on these beautiful tiles is infinite.
