Isolation I - V   2021
41cm x 49cm

The coronavirus lockdown robbed us of freedom but gave us time.  Ice-dyeing was a new adventure for me and the results were rich in opportunity the imagination.  The stitching reflects the discoveries I made there.  In this quilt the hydrangea flower heads are magnificent and vibrant.

Wholecloth.  Ice-dyed Pimatex cotton. Double layer of wool and cotton wadding. Glide thread. Mijuki seed bead embellishment.

Hand guided free motion quilting on a longarm machine.

These small pieces were the start of my Isolation series.  Starting with the gift of colour a multitude of images took flight from floral hyacinths to volcanic eruptions.  Imagination has no limit to creativity.
